2008 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid - Green Wash Car Of the Year

Green Car Journal (greencar.com) awarded the 2008 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid the winner of the green car contest in the November 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Puhleez........

Perhaps it has improved fuel efficiency, but it is NOT GREEN.

1) For Christ sake, it is still guzzling gas at 21 mpg. Now, 7 months later in May 2008, after gas prices have jumped another 30%, breaking $4 per gallon mark, does 21 mpg, costing $100+ for the 25-gallon tank, look so green?

2) It is still Big and Heavy, and I bet ya it takes lot more carbon emissions and materials for the manufacturing process.

3) Most motorists who owns SUV do not need it any way. This is far from a "green product" that serves consumer needs along with the right environmental benefits.

If greencar.com is impressed by the technology, then it should properly give it "fuel technology of the year" award. Elevating the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid to "Green" nonetheless "Green Car of the year" based on this technology amounts to green washing. Then why not use the same technology and put it on a 7-ton Hummer and make it a winner in "Green Hummer of the Year" because it mpg has improved to 15 mpg?

These fellas are either missing the point of "Green", or just green washers deserving to be on my site and lot more others.

CONGRATULATION FOR BEING THE CHOSEN OPENER OF MY BLOGS AND AS THE "GREEN WASH CAR OF THE YEAR". There is nothing like a little higher gas price to exhibit that stupidity.
